An architect's rendering of the new Oakville hospitality building. Our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is produced at our Oakville estate, whose location midway between the Silverado Trail and the town of Oakville provided the inspiration for the Silver Oak name. Situated in the heart of wine country, the estate is a popular destination for visitors seeking to enjoy the valley’s fine wine and dining and breathtaking scenery.
The historic dairy barn that housed the original winery burned in 2006, after years of periodic flooding, providing the impetus for the ambitious reconstruction that is now underway. This project gives us the opportunity to create a facility ideally suited to making our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, using knowledge developed over decades of winemaking.
Scheduled to be completed in time for the 2008 crush, the new winery features a handsome traditional design inspired by the Napa Valley’s rich agricultural heritage. The building is faced with reclaimed limestone from an abandoned flour mill in Coffeyville, Kansas. Seven tulip trees frame a central courtyard with a fountain and sweeping views of the surrounding hills. Other highlights include an enhanced hospitality center and tasting room and a library with a custom wine cellar showcasing all of Silver Oak’s vintages from 1972 to today. The iconic water tower that appears on Silver Oak’s label remains as a visible reminder of our history.
“Reconstruction of our Oakville winery is a tremendous opportunity to incorporate our 35 years of experience making Cabernet Sauvignon into a winery that’s uniquely suited to our needs."
