Plan on visiting Silver Oak in the Napa Valley?
Silver Oak Cellars in Oakville is under construction, but open for business! Please read details below!
This past spring, Silver Oak Cellars, owned by the Duncan Family, began demolition and rebuild on its Oakville Winery. The original winery constructed in 1981, experienced a fire in early 2006 that destroyed Bonny's Chai, the historic building used for barrel storage and special events. Faced with the decision to rebuild or start fresh, the Duncan’s seized the chance to create a facility that honors Silver Oak's past while incorporating advances in winemaking.
The new winery will pay tribute to Napa Valley's agricultural heritage with a handsome traditional design. Four oak trees will frame a central courtyard with a fountain, reflecting pool and sweeping views of the surrounding hills. The iconic water tower that appears on Silver Oak's label will remain as a visible reminder of its rich history. Other highlights of the design include an enhanced hospitality center, tasting room and library with a custom wine cellar showcasing all of Silver Oak's vintages – 1972 to today.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to incorporate our 35 years of experience making Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley into a winery that's uniquely suited to Silver Oak's needs. We will have tanks for specific vineyard blocks, room for working barrels, and precise temperature and humidity controls in our barrel storage rooms. We're also building in the flexibility we need to continue to innovate in the future,” notes President David Duncan.
