The 2001 Napa Valley has a dark, garnet color and an intense nose of cassis, roasting meat and coffee. It has a rich attack, a mouth coating mid-palate and a lovely long finish with ripe tannins. It will continue to improve through 2027 given proper cellaring.

The 2001 Alexander Valley has a medium ruby-red color and a nose of blackberry jam, violets, chocolate and nutmeg. It has a rich attack, a full mid-palate and an explosion of fruit in the finish. Tannins are still evolving, so this wine will continue to improve through 2026.
