A Closer Look at Soda Canyon Ranch

A little way up Soda Canyon Road resides our estate vineyard, Soda Canyon Ranch. Here in the benchlands of the Vaca mountain range, our vineyard team has farmed the 113-acre site since 1999 as six vineyards in one. Each micro-vineyard is planted to several of the famous Bordeaux grape varieties—Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot—and has provided fruit to form the backbone of our Napa Valley Cabernet for decades. Soda Canyon Ranch is also the origin of the Timeless Napa Valley story and proprietary red blend.

Planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, the Transition Zone gets its name from its location—a part of the vineyard that, in many ways, has the best conditions of its surrounding micro-vineyards.

Seen throughout our Napa Green-certified vineyard are homes to our preferred form of pest control. Bluebirds eat a variety of insects, including the blue-green sharpshooter, an insect that spreads Pierce’s Disease.

Situated to the east of the Transition Zone at Soda Canyon Ranch, the Rocky Blocks have the shallowest soils—volcanic and tumbled, not smooth and polished. Irrigation is vital.

Weathered like the hands of time, the trunk of the grapevine represents consistency and longevity of responsible stewardship.

Amidst the micro-vineyards is a clearing referred to as “Haley’s Grove.” It’s the inspiration for the illustration on the Timeless Napa Valley wine label.

Throughout veraison, these berries will continue to change color and grow.
