The Story of Silver Oak

Some bottles mark a moment. Ours help make one.

We craft Cabernet for gathering the people you love and celebrating the wins. Our wines are ready to be enjoyed the day you bring it home and memorable long after the glasses are cleared. Because we focus on the details, the experience in your glass is confidently, consistently Silver Oak.

Our signature is singular—Cabernet Sauvignon aged exclusively in 100% American oak—so what you taste is unmistakably Silver Oak: vivid fruit, smooth structure, and a lingering finish. We farm 19 premier estate vineyards and own our cooperage in Missouri, selecting white oak, seasoning staves, and toasting barrels to our specs. That stewardship allows us to age each vintage until it’s truly ready to share.

Where it Began

Silver Oak started with a handshake between two friends, Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer, and one bold idea to focus on a single varietal and do it exceptionally well. From a dairy barn in Oakville to our beloved Cabernets on dining tables across the globe, our Napa Valley and Alexander Valley wines became staples for remarkable moments.

What Endures

Every decision is made with the next generation in mind. Both our Napa Valley and Alexander Valley homes are certified LEED® Platinum—the only commercial wineries on earth to achieve it—because sustainability isn’t a trend for us. It’s a standard.

Rooted in Family and Friendship

In 2001, Justin retired, selling his share of Silver Oak to the Duncan family. Ray's sons Tim Duncan and David R. Duncan (pictured here) are second-generation vintners to this day.

As a family owned, multi-generational winery, we continue to invest deeply in the future so we can guide every vintage with the same clarity of purpose that started it all.
