How Silver Oak Cabernet Is Made

Crafting elegant, delicious Cabernet Sauvignon takes time and expertise. From our seasoned vineyard workers to our winemaker and cellar crew—many of whom have been with Silver Oak for 20 years or more—there is a wealth of knowledge (and purple-stained hands) behind every bottle of Silver Oak.

Here are just a few places that skilled hands are hard at work behind the scenes.

  • At The Oak Cooperage: From sawing and sorting the staves to toasting the barrels.
  • In the vineyard: From pruning and thining the vines to picking grapes.
  • At the winery: From sorting berries to pumping wine to topping barrels.
  • In the lab: From pipetting juice to measuring Brix.
  • On the bottling line: From unpacking bottles to placing the foils.

So how many hands does it take to make a Silver Oak Cabernet? As we prepared to release our 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, we set out to find the answer.
