Silver Oak and Twomey Welcome OVID Napa Valley to the Family

It is with great excitement that we share the addition of OVID Napa Valley to our family of wines. At Silver Oak and Twomey we focus on acquiring compelling vineyards capable of producing unique and expressive American wines. With a shared passion for quality, sustainability, and site-driven estate bottlings, OVID’s addition to our portfolio furthers our commitment to crafting premium wines of place and distinction.

Perched high above Oakville on Pritchard Hill, OVID’s rugged and intensely beautiful vineyards produce rich and complex Bordeaux varieties. OVID has been termed “one of the most exciting new entrants into the world of premium Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon” by Antonio Galloni. A jewel of the Napa Valley, OVID and its estate vineyards present a rare opportunity to create wines worthy of a remarkable place.

We first met Mark Nelson and his wife Dana Johnson, founding partners at OVID, over a decade ago as they settled in the Napa Valley and carved OVID out of a rocky hillside. As fellow wine entrepreneurs and community philanthropists brought together by our children’s experience at Saint Helena Montessori School, a close friendship formed. It was at the kitchen table that Silver Oak and Twomey’s future role with OVID evolved. As Mark describes it, the transition emerged as “two families passed ground from one to another.”

Our goal, simply put, is to “let OVID be OVID.” Together with Winemaker Austin Peterson, Vineyard Manager David Abreu, and Managing Partner Jack Bittner, we will continue farming and making wine in the thoughtful and meticulous OVID tradition. OVID will retain its small-lot and limited-production focus on the unique terroir of Pritchard Hill. Current customers will maintain their place on the mailing list and the winery continues to welcome collectors to the waitlist.

As we welcome OVID, its customers and wonderful staff to our family, we look forward to farming this exceptional piece of ground and building upon Silver Oak and Twomey’s tradition of acclaimed wines and land stewardship.
