Onward and Upward

2014-Present

2014

Nate Weis hired as third winemaker

Nate Weis was hired as the third winemaker in Silver Oak history and worked alongside Daniel Baron until his retirement in 2016.

“A lot of people in the Napa community recall watching Nate come of age as the son of an Oakville winemaker. He possesses a rare combination of artistry and business acumen.” – David Duncan

2015

Silver Oak breaks ground on Alexander Valley

After acquiring a 110-acre Alexander Valley vineyard property in 2012 with a progeny dating back to 1844 and namesake Cyrus Alexander, we broke ground on what will eventually become the world’s greenest winery.

2015

Silver Oak becomes first winery to own American oak barrel cooperage

“Stylistically, it does matter where the trees come from,” says Silver Oak president Tony LeBlanc. “The American oak we use is sourced within a 100-mile radius, and there’s a symbiosis from that radius that ties in what we want from our wines.”

2016

Silver Oak Napa Valley honored as world’s first LEED Platinum winery

2018

Silver Oak Alexander Valley winery gains LEED Platinum certification

“In the future, no one should build a winery with lower standards than what we created here,” says Haley Duncan, LEED AP. “One of our goals has been to also build and design with cost efficiency in mind.  If we build green at any cost, we’re not proving anything because that’s not practical for most people.”

2020

Living Building Certification

“It took every single contractor and subcontractor and architect and the Duncan family, as owners – everybody had to be committed to it because there were a lot of things you just don’t do the easy way.” – David R. Duncan, as told to The Wine Spectator

2025

Laura Oskwarek Becomes the Fourth Winemaker

Laura Oskwarek becomes the fourth winemaker in Silver Oak history.

“I’m honored to step into this role and continue building on the culture of excellence that defines everything we do.” – Laura Oskwarek

2025

Cheers to the next 50 years. Life is a Cabernet!
