CHAPTER 4

We Rebuild
2006-2012

2006

Fire destroys the Oakville winery

“We got together at Ray’s house and many of us were in tears,” recalls former (and longtime) Silver Oak CFO  Rickie Pina. “I asked everyone, ‘What are we going to do now?’ To which David replied, ‘We rebuild,’ immediately cutting through the despair of the moment.”

“Ultimately, the fire was one of the best things that could have happened to us because it elevated our wines to a new level.” - David R. Duncan

1994

The new, rebuilt winery in Oakville opens

“The stone featured in Oakville was reclaimed from an old flour mill in Coffeyville, Kansas. A 100-year old building made of locally quarried limestone was slated to be torn down and we were able to salvage 550 tons of stone for the new winery,” adds Silver Oak president Tony LeBlanc.

2012

Silver Oak celebrates 40 years by taking a replica of the iconic water tower on a cross country road trip

“For our 40th anniversary, we wanted to connect on a deeper level with Silver Oak fans around the U.S. by taking a replica model of the Silver Oak water tower on a road trip,” recalls David.
