Alexander Valley Estate Vineyard

A landscape of river valley, benchlands, and sun-warmed afternoons, Alexander Valley has long promised greatness. Silver Oak put down roots here before the AVA was officially established, and founding winemaker Justin Meyer championed its potential for world-class Cabernet, helping put the region on the map as that vision came true.

We practice precision viticulture—mapping soils, monitoring vine health, and timing picks block by block—so every cluster is harvested at its best. That fruit comes to our LEED® Platinum and Living Building Challenge-certified winery, where our team crafts it into our signature American-oak aged Cabernet with confident consistency.

About the Vintage

The 2022 growing season tested resilience from the start—early spring frost gave way to a steady, mild stretch before an intense late-summer heat wave accelerated ripening.

Smaller berries and clusters concentrated the fruit, yielding a vintage of remarkable depth, energy, and expressive character.

Blending and Aging

After blending in early 2023, our 2022 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was transferred to American oak barrels from our cooperage, The Oak, where it aged for 24 months. Blending before barrel aging—a signature of our winemaking style—allows blends to be based on the inherent qualities of their vineyard components before oak influence. Vintage to vintage, the resulting Cabernets emerge integrated and ready to drink upon release.
